Remains of the Day

Remains of the Day

Be with me in that hour
    When the last breath nears
    Remove persisting fears
Enveloped in your power

An ending without props
    As heaven's light appears
    I realize what's dear
A love that never stops

Present yourself in peace
    This earthly chapter ending
As time and space are rending
A love that does not cease

REMAINS

Conected to the heavens

A look from heaven

reaches down, lights the eyes

shines into the soul

transformational quanta

a word never voided

message received

sky to earth

eternal to temporal

dynamic thethering

a knot to the spirit

Inescapable Grace

Where are you from where will you go?

When life makes you numb, when life keeps you low

The burden you bear is not just for you

There's someone who cares, when you have no clue

Inescapable grace

Irreplaceble mercy

and a passion that longs for your best

a repeating forgiveness

and a stubborn renewal

even when life's a mess

Night from Day - a song to send out Missionaries

A song written for the sending out of someone going into missions work. It tells how it is a bitterwseet thing with good work to come and the pain of leaving friends and family behind - and how God more than compensates!

Advent - An Arrival

Advent

We just finished the Christmas season, and I am thinking anew about the Advent season.

When God invaded a world of His own making - in the form of a helpless baby.

The world had rebelled more than once - continually actually. Many had tried to supplant God with anything else, even ultimately with themselves.

And yet Advent is a coming by God. Incarnation in the least imposing way imaginable - as a baby born to poor parents under a repressive Roman empire. Refugees chased out of their own land by a deranged local leader seeking to secure his power base.

Beyond Adrenaline

Who doesn't  love a kick of excitement or the sensation of euphoris? To palpably feel the presence of God, experience the closeness of the supernatural and swim in the place where eternity seems to kiss the earth.

But no one lives for long on adrenalin.

May God grant us the ability to breathe consistently, to walk when the ability to run subsides, and the heart to continue to beat .
