Normally, there is a moderately large event where scores of people stop by during the day for visits, food and fellowship. Andy decided that this year she wanted something a bit less intense, and so our plans were for an immediate family only event day.
(The photo seen here is of Tia and Andy at our evening meal at the Buggingen Thai Restaurant.)
The day was started with what is here in Germany known as either an English or an American breakfast. In our case you can make the safe guess that the American moniker won out.
This breakfast means something different from the normal Continental breakfast which is normally breads with stuff placed on it.
The AM/UK breakfast is as I prepared it:
* bacon
* fried eggs
* toast
* fried tomatoes
* coffee
* OJ
(I would have added home fries and baked beans, but we had plans for the rest of the day that involved contact with the public!)
Onefocus of the day was a visit to IKEA. I went with Andy and this in itslef was a birthday gift. After that we headed to a Freiburg cinema to view "Madagascar" - do not forget that we had our three year old with us.
We were somewhat less than enthused. Tia made it clear afterwards that she wanted to see it again.
After the venture into Freiburg we came home. Andy's youth group wanted to visit her on her bday. They stayed much too long, but we eventually were able to get out to go to our birthday meal at the Thai restaurant, which is the favorite restaurant of each and everyone of us in the family. (How many 3 year olds do you know whose favorite foods include won-tons and spring rolls?)
