Firefox gives up the Ghost

I am an avid user of Firefox. It died. I cannot get it to work at all anymore. I have deleted, reinstalled, re-booted - all the normal stuff.

The program loads (I can see it when I do a control-alt) but it does nothing.

Does anyone know what may be causing it to no longer work at all? Prior to the crash I had added some new extensions - could this be the cause, and if so where can I find a fix?

Using IE is opening me to security issues I want to avoid at all costs. Help!

If more info is needed to address the issue, let me know. I will gladly post it to also help future people who can benefit from the response.
