Two Trees

When there was a choice to make
between the knowledge of
good and evil or of life

Our ancestors chose to take
the path leading from love
into an unending strife

and after Jesus made the way
to eat of the tree of life again
we seem so eager just to stay
near good and evil’s fruit - yet when

you know the truth
you’ll be set free
no slave to law
real liberty

God has a plan
that’s only good
a love that does not cease
The Son of Man
His love has stood
time’s test and gives true peace

Jesus is the tree of life
Jesus is the life
from the fruit of this tree
is life that given for free
Jesus is this life

Jesus is the tree of life
there’s nothing more that’s hidden
we are called to taste and eat
in Him no fruit’s forbidden
