Posting Interrupt

My regular rhythm of posts has been interrupted by a bad computer. Actually. it was not all that bad.

On 22 February I sent my computer away to the manufacturer as it had a broken cable. The computer itself worked just fine, but it was only a matter of time until the battery had no more power, and I had no way to charge it with the bad cable.

I write this today and the date is 22 March, 2006, a full month after this departure to the manufacturer.

Yesterday I got a physical letter stating that they could not fix the machine, and I was offered three options:

* return the machine without repair
* they would issue a check for what they called the current value of the machine
* they would issue me a new machine with a payment I must add

What does a guarantee mean?

In any case I know when to hold èm and when to fold èm. I can fight it, but I need this machine. The month without it nearly killed me workwise. I cannot wait any longer.

Just a note for the public. The company that did this is called Medion. Buyer beware.

In this "down" time I also had other "machine" failures. These included my eyeglasses (repair cost €40), our oven (replacement cost € 150), more health costs than I care to mention and it looks like our TV is dying too.

Ouch!
