If you ate your own tongue

If you ate your own tongue  [created 2009-6-14 00:10 am]

[Idea : if you consume what you need for your existence what are you left with. This is an example of songwriting driven by text/lyrics for future usage on http://RuffMix.com]

If you ate your own tongue
would you taste the loss of taste
as you swallowed?

If you blinded your eyes
would you see the loss of sight
in your viewing?

If you deafened your ears
would you hear the loss of sound
as you listened?

If you bludgeoned your feel
would you feel the loss of tact
as it touched you?

If you dampened your smell
would you feel the loss of breath
as you inhaled?

This song was strangely enough inspired by a Tweet I posted in 2009-06-14 where I asked: "If you accidentally ate your own tongue, could you taste it?" I wanted as an excercise to use a crazy random phrase as a tool or beginning point to write a song. As I write this, there is no song - only the text. If it were earlier I would play with it musically. My family is now in bed and I cannot make the noise required to create a rough of the music. But I now have a unique starting point that I hope will help me to creat a new tune that is unique. (It is perhaps my greatest challenge not to write music, but to create new music that is both new and very different from what I have done before.)
