The first song I ever wrote on the Mandolin after playing it for a month (I am a guitarist) is a celebration of Easter called "He's Alive".
This is the live band version - (no mix just captured by a mike in the room.)

It was written for someone with a higher voice range than I have, but as the concert was about my music I had to sing it! I hope it is enjoyable and it has a CC licence which is why I am sharing it a bit more than a week before Easter.
This is how I introduced the song at the concert:
The tremendous message of Easter is that Jesus has no body in the grave. It is actually true that he arose from the dead. I do not mean this to be a song about anything with hidden meaning. Jesus is risen and He is alive today. This song is my attempt to share the historical event joined with the joy it involves. I am not a great mandolin player, but the joy the resurrection expresses almost forced me into using its brightness as a tool of expression. Rolf and team have been so good as to allow me to indulge in using this instrument so that we can together, I hope, celebrate the reality of a risen, living God!
